ERROR: Unable to install caTools package. make: g++: Command not found

Problem
The following error occurs when installing caTools package on a RedHat Linux environment:
make: g++: Command not found

make: *** [Gif2R.o] Error 127
Solution
This error pertains to a missing rpm package called gcc-c++. To verify if this is the case in your environment, check if you have it installed on your machine by doing the following command on the linux console:
rpm -qa | grep -i gcc-c++

If this package is not present on your machine, just use yum to install it:
yum install gcc-c++
