Symptoms
Consider the following scenario:

You create a connection string by using the Table Import Wizard, and the Use connection string option is selected.

The user name and password are provided in both the ODBC connection string and the OLE DB connection string.

You connect to a database by using the Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers in Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Service Pack 2 PowerPivot for Microsoft Excel 2010 add-in.

You upload the workbook to a SharePoint PowerPivot Gallery and then set the workbook to update automatically.
In this scenario, the workbook does not update automatically. Additionally, you receive the following error message:
Format of the initialization string does not conform to specification starting at index 59.
