This article describes how to assign a logon script to a profile for a local user's account on a Windows XP-based workstation or on a Windows-based server. This logon script runs when the local user logs on locally to the computer but does not run when the user logs on to the domain.
To complete this procedure, you must log on as an administrator or as a member of the Administrators group. If your computer is connected to a network, network policy settings also affect your ability to complete this procedure.
To assign a logon script to a user's profile, follow these steps:
Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
Double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Computer Management.
In the console tree, expand Local Users and Groups, and then click Users.
Click the user account that you want to work with.
Click Action, and then click Properties.
Click the Profile tab, and then type the path and file name of the script under Logon script.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
The following information can help you share the folder correctly:
The default location for local logon scripts is the %SystemRoot%\System32\Repl\Import\Scripts folder. You must share this folder by using the share name netlogon.
If you do not want to create the netlogon share in the default location, place the script in any folder that the user has access to during logon. It is recommended that this folder be shared.
If the logon script is stored in a subfolder of the domain controller logon script path (Sysvol\DomainName\Scripts), precede the file name with the relative path, for example, Clerks.bat or Our_users\user_1.cmd
