Error when using Advanced Find in Outlook 2016
In Microsoft Outlook 2016, when you search messages by using Advanced Find in frequently-used text fields, you may receive the following error message:
Outlook cannot perform your search. Outlook cannot display this view. Out of memory or system resources. Close some windows or program and try again.
To fix this issue for an Outlook 2016 Click-to-Run based installation, make sure that your Office 2016 Click-to-Run installation is at version 16.0.7070.2022 or a later version. If it is not at this version or a later version, update your Office 2016 installation. To do this, follow these steps.
- Open any Office application, such as Outlook or Word.
- Click File, and then click Office Account or Account.
- View the version that is listed under Office Updates.
- If the version is not at 16.0.7070.2022 or a later version, click Update Options, and then click Update Now.

If you can't install the update that's mentioned in the "Resolution" section to fix this issue, or if you are running an Office 2016 MSI-based installation, work around the issue by avoiding searching in frequently-used text fields in Advanced Find. Instead, search in subject field only or subject field and message body.
Alternatively, you can search by using Instant Search instead of Advanced Find. To search using Instant Search, click in the Search Current Mailbox text box and enter your search terms.
Microsoft is researching this problem and will post more information in this article when the information becomes available.
