WES7 SP1 default onscreen keyboard too small to use on a 9-inch screen

Symptoms
The default onscreen keyboard in Windows Embedded Standard 7 Service Pack 1 (WES7 SP1) is effectively too small to use on a 9-inch screen or smaller.
Cause
When the tablet is in portrait mode, the default onscreen keyboard shrinks too much. Therefore, using your fingers for keyboard text entry becomes difficult and imprecise.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, add a custom onscreen keyboard. However, to do this, you’ll have to hide or deactivate much of the functionality of the default onscreen keyboard. If you still want to do this, you must modify some of its Group Policy Objects (GPO). The GPOs that are involved here are in the TabletPCInputPanel.admx file. Use regedit.exe to modify the GPOs, as described in the following table:

InstructionChange the GPO to
Disable text prediction.HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\TabletTip\1.7!DisablePrediction
For tablet pen input, don't show the Input Panel icon.HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\TabletTip\1.7!HideIPTIPTarget
For touch input, don't show the Input Panel icon.HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\TabletTip\1.7!HideIPTIPTouchTarget
Prevent Input Panel tab from appearing.HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\TabletTip\1.7!DisableEdgeTarget
Turn off AutoComplete integration with Input Panel.HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\TabletTip\1.7!DisableACIntegration

Note If you want to change the settings for specific users, modify the same keys, but replace HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE with HKEY_CURRENT_USER. For example: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\TabletTip\1.7!DisablePrediction.
