If you install certain Internet signup programs, Windows may become unusable. For example, nothing may happen when you click the Start button, or icons on the desktop may disappear. You may also receive the following error message:
Monitor.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
If you view the data that the error report contains, the following error signature information is listed:
App Name     App Version  Module Name   Module Version  Offset----------------------------------------------------------------Monitor.exe      Kernel32.dll  5.1.2600.0      00016341					
EncompassMonitor, a component that is included with the Internet signup program, is not compatible with Windows XP.
