FIX: Deadlock occurs when you acquire a SCH-M lock and alter a partition in SQL Server 2014 or 2016
Consider the following scenario:
- You run a Transact-SQL statement that starts an update of out-of-date statistics.
- You run another Transact-SQL statement in parallel that acquires a schema (SCH-M) lock, for example, the ALTER PARTITION SCHEME statement.
