Send a Smile icon appears even when Send Office Feedback feature is disabled in Group Policy
Consider the following scenario:
- You are running Office 365 ProPlus version 1605, build 6965.2053 or later.
- You have your update channel set to Insiders or Current.
- You have configured a Group Policy setting to disable (Enabled=0) the Send Office Feedback feature. You've configured this in the following location:
User Configuration | Policies | Software settings | Administrative Templates | Microsoft Office 2016 | Privacy | Trust Center
In this scenario, you still see the "Send a Smile" icon in your Office applications.
Starting with Office 365 ProPlus version 1605, build 6965.2053, when distributed to users on the Insiders or Current update channel of Office, the Group Policy setting for Send Office Feedback is no longer honored. This behavior is by design.
To work around this issue, use either the First Release Deferred update channel or the Deferred update channel for Office updates.
