Supplemental Language Support Options Change Program Background Color

When either of the following Supplemental language support options are selected on the Languages tab of the Regional and Language Options tool in Control Panel, programs that use transparent background mode in a text box display in different colors:
- Install files for complex script and right to left languages (including Thai)
- Install files for East Asian languages

Hotfix informationA supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. If you do not see your language, it is because a hotfix is not available for that language. The English version of this fix has the file attributes (or later) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in coordinated universal time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2.
