A Universal Serial Bus (USB) storage device may not work when you follow these steps:
CAUSE
This problem may occur on a computer that has multiple USB controllers. Under these circumstances, the USB storage device is not recognized by Windows.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, unplug the USB storage device from the new USB port, and then plug it into the original port. Windows will reset and then recognize the device.
