This article has been archived. It is offered "as is" and will no longer be updated.
When you try to start Microsoft Age of Mythology for the first time, you may receive an error message box that contains only a white "X" that is inside a red circle.
This behavior may occur if your computer has less than 128 megabytes (MB) of random access memory (RAM).
To resolve this behavior, upgrade the RAM on your computer to 128 MB. To identify how much RAM your computer has, follow these steps:
  1. On the desktop, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
  2. In the System Properties dialog box, see how much memory appears under Computer.

If this value is less than 128 MB of RAM, your computer does not meet the minimum requirements for this game. If your computer does not meet the game requirements, contact your computer manufacturer or system builder to receive more information about how to upgrade the RAM on your computer. If you do not want to upgrade the RAM on your computer, you can return the product.
