You Receive a "KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED" Error Message
This article has been archived. It is offered "as is" and will no longer be updated.
Your Windows 2000-based computer may stop responding (hang), and then you receive the following error message on a blue screen:
KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (1e) in HIDPARSE!HidP_ParseCollections
This issue may occur if the computer retrieves information from the universal serial bus (USB) device. That information includes a section that describes the Human Interface Device (HID). The length of this HID description is ignored by the computer and therefore it reads past the end of the description. This generates the error message described in the "Symptoms" section.
