Character spacing of Japanese characters is incorrect when you use a full-width space in an HTML element with the letter-spacing attribute

When you visit a Web page that contains Japanese characters and you use the letter-spacing attribute with an HTML element (for example, SPAN or INPUT TYPE="TEXT"), a full-width space character (U+0x3000) may cause incorrect character spacing, as in the following example:

<SPAN STYLE="letter-spacing: 20pt;">館館 館館館</SPAN>
<SPAN STYLE="letter-spacing: 20pt;">館館館館館館</SPAN>

Note The first line of text contains a full-width space character. The second line does not.

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article.
