Here's an easy way to work around this issue. This method lets Adobe Acrobat create the file and ignore the error message.

The following steps apply to Acrobat Distiller 6.0.
  1. Click Start, point to All Programs, and then click Acrobat Distiller 6.0.
  2. Click Settings, and then click Edit Adobe PDF Settings.
  3. Click Fonts.
  4. On the When Embedding Fails list, click Warn and Continue.
  5. Click OK.
  6. When Acrobat Distiller prompts you to save a new settings file, do so. Acrobat Distiller suggests a name that resembles the following:

    Press Quality(1).joboptions
When you use Acrobat Distiller in the future, use the new settings file that you just created.

The error is triggered if the printer driver uses Times-Roman font or Helvetica font as a printer resident font and if the driver is configured to substitute fonts.

Note Acrobat Distiller does not have the font outlines for the Times-Roman and Helvetica fonts.

  1. On the File menu, click Page Setup.
  2. Click Printer and Paper.
  3. Click the name of the printer, and then click Properties.
  4. Click Advanced.
  5. In the Graphic section, change the TrueType Font option to Download as Softfont.
  6. Click OK two times.

Method 2: Perform this configuration for all publications

  1. Click Start, and then click Printers and Faxes.
  2. Right-click the printer that you want to configure, and then click Properties.
  3. Click Printing Preferences.
  4. Click Advanced.
  5. In the Graphic section, change the TrueType Font option to Download as Softfont.
  6. Click OK two times.
