After you upgrade your computer to Microsoft Windows XP, the computer may seem to play sounds, but you do not hear any audio playback.
For example, the Seek button may progress across the window underneath a sound clip in Windows Media Player, and the visualization may appear as expected, but the speakers emit no sound.
This behavior may occur if all the following conditions are true:
- The computer manufacturer is Gateway, Inc.
- The computer has a Creative Audio PCI ES1371 or ES1373 sound card installed.
- The computer is equipped with Boston Acoustic digital speakers.
To resolve this problem, download and install the updated driver for your sound card that is available from Gateway. To do so, visit the following Gateway Web site: Note Contact the manufacturer if you want help to use this utility.
