When you try to open a virtual machine in Virtual PC for Mac, you may receive the following error message, or you may receive a message that is similar to the following error message:
The PC could not be restored because the saved state was either corrupt or incompatible with this version of Virtual PC.
This issue occurs if a drive image has been saved in a suspended state or has been used with a current version of Virtual PC for Mac and then is opened with an earlier version of Virtual PC for Mac. For example, a drive image that is saved by Virtual PC for Mac version 5.0.3 causes this error if it is opened by Virtual PC for Mac version 5.0.2.
To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
Quit Virtual PC.
Search your computer for older versions of Virtual PC on all mounted volumes. To find the version, click the program, and then press COMMAND + I.
Delete older versions of Virtual PC. Leave the most recent version.
