Support for Office 2003 has ended

Microsoft ended support for Office 2003 on April 8, 2014. This change has affected your software updates and security options. Learn what this means for you and how to stay protected.

When you use Microsoft Windows 98 to try to run a Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 or Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003 presentation that was packaged to a CD, you receive the following error message:
A required .DLL file, USP10.DLL was not found.
This issue occurs because the PowerPoint 2003 Viewer system requires Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition and later. If you try to run the Viewer on an earlier version of Microsoft Windows, you receive the error message that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section.
Note The PowerPoint 2007 Viewer requires at least Microsoft Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4.
To resolve this issue, run the PowerPoint 2003 Viewer on a supported version of Microsoft Windows. Supported operating systems include:
  • Windows 98 Second Edition
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 (SP3) and later
  • Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me)
  • Microsoft Windows XP
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2003

For PowerPoint 2007 Viewer, the supported operating systems include the following:
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 with at least Service Pack 4 (SP4)
  • Microsoft Windows XP
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2003
  • Windows Vista
To work around this issue, download and install the Microsoft Windows Installer 2.0 Redistributable (this includes the Usp10.dll file).
