Terminal Server stops responding when idle sessions are being ended

If you are using a Windows Server 2003-based server that has Terminal Server enabled, Terminal Server may stop responding. Also, users may not be able to establish new Terminal Server connections to the server.
This problem occurs when the server tries to log off a Terminal Server session that has been idle, but the server cannot end all the processes. One process that is running in the session is addressing the Remote Display Protocol (RDP) redirector (Rdprd.sys) and cannot be ended.

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.
