Default picklist value in an Opportunity, Contact, or Account is not set if the record is created from Lead conversion in Microsoft CRM

This article has been archived. It is offered "as is" and will no longer be updated.
Microsoft CRM supports default picklist values that are set when new Opportunity, Contact, or Account records are created. However, when you create an Opportunity, Contact or Account by converting an existing lead record, the default values are not set properly. Although they initially show correctly in the Microsoft CRM Web application, the database record actually stores NULL, rather than the appropriate default value.
A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply the hotfix only to systems that experience this problem.

To resolve this problem, contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the hotfix. For a complete list of Microsoft Product Support Services telephone numbers and information about support costs, visit the following Microsoft Web site:Note In special cases, charges that are ordinarily incurred for support calls may be canceled if a Microsoft Support Professional determines that a specific update will resolve your problem. The usual support costs will apply to additional support questions and issues that do not qualify for the specific update in question.
