You apply the 822226 hotfix to a multiprocessor computer that is running Microsoft Windows 2000 Server with Service Pack 4 (SP4). You then examine the value of the Network Interface object type's Output Queue Length performance counter in System Monitor. You use this value to monitor the Network Interface performance. The Output Queue Length performance counter may consistently show a random value that is greater than zero. This behavior may occur even when there is no network traffic.
A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

To apply this hotfix, you must have Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 (SP4) installed on your computer.
You must restart your computer after you apply this hotfix.

This hotfix replaces the 822226 hotfix.
The English version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table. You can use the Network Interface object type's Output Queue Length performance counter to monitor the network adaptor and to query by using the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP).Typically, the value of Output Queue Length is not greater than zero. If the value of Output Queue Length does exceed zero, the value typically returns to zero quickly. A value that is greater than zero may indicate network delays.The Output Queue Length performance counter is maintained by using TCP/IP.
The Network Driver Interface Specification (NDIS) software implementation queues the SNMP query requests. Therefore, the Output Queue Length value is typically zero. However, in a symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) computer, the value may be greater than two in System Monitor or in a returned SNMP query.
