After you apply the hotfix, you must create a registry key to enable this feature. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
- Locate and then click the following registry subkey: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl
- On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click Key.
- Type FEATURE_SKIP_LEAK_CLEANUP_AT_SHUTDOWN_KB835183, and then press ENTER.
- Click FEATURE_SKIP_LEAK_CLEANUP_AT_SHUTDOWN_KB835183.
- On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
- Type iexplore.exe, and then press ENTER.
- Click iexplore.exe.
- On the Edit menu, click Modify.
- Type 00000001 , and then click OK.
- Exit Registry Editor.
- Restart the computer.
