You receive “the add-in "C:\Program Files\Net2Phone\LaunchNet2Phone32.dll” could not be installed or loaded” error message when you start Outlook 2002

When you start Microsoft Outlook 2002, you may receive the following error message:
The add-in "C:\Program Files\Net2Phone\LaunchNet2Phone32.dll" could not be installed or loaded. This problem may be resolved by using Detect and Repair on the Help menu. Unable to load "C:\Program Files\Net2Phone\LaunchNet2pho..." You may be out of memory, out of system resources, or missing a .dll file.

If you click OK in the error message, Outlook 2002 starts and functions as expected.
This behavior may occur if both of the following conditions are true:
  • You install the Net2Phone third-party software on your computer.
  • You upgrade Microsoft Outlook 2000 to Outlook 2002.

Note This behavior may also occur after you perform a custom installation of the third-party browser Netscape Navigator 6.1 and then install the Net2Phone optional component.
To resolve this behavior, use one or both of the following methods:

Method 1

Turn off the Net2Phone launchn2p add-in in Outlook 2002

To do so, follow these steps:
  1. Start Outlook 2002.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  3. Click the Other tab, and then click Advanced Options.
  4. Click Add-In Manager.
  5. In the Add-In Manager dialog box, click to clear the launchnet2p check box.
  6. Click OK three times.

Method 2

Remove the Net2Phone third-party software and the launch2p subkey

To remove the Net2Phone third-party software, follow these steps.

Note Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.
  1. Click Start, point to Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs.
  2. Click Net2Phone, click Change/Remove, and then click Yes.
  3. When the removal is complete, click OK.
  4. Restart your computer.
Note When you remove the Net2phone third-party software, the launch2p entry will be removed from the following registry subkey:

After you remove Net2Phone software, if you still receive the error message when you start Outlook 2002, perform the procedure that is described in Method 1.
