Issues that are fixed in the hotfix package

The following issue is fixed in this hotfix package, but was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
  • This problem may occur if the New Publication task pane is open and you do not quit Publisher 2003 before you log off or shut down Microsoft Windows. If you log off or shut down Windows while Publisher 2003 is running, you receive the following error message:
    The instruction at "0x31e48ae9" referenced memory at "0x009e06e8". The memory could not be "read".

    Click on OK to terminate the program

This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Office 2003 Service Pack 1.
