When you search for content on a top-level Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services Web site that is stored in Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003, you receive an error message that is similar to the following:
You do not experience these symptoms if you search for content in the portal site. Additionally, if you use SQL Server Enterprise Manager to view the properties of the full-text catalog in the SiteName_SITE database in Microsoft SQL Server, you may find that no items are indexed. If you try to index the full-text catalog, you may receive an error message that is similar to the following:
No results found
Error 7605: Full-text catalog ‘ix_CatalogName_SITE’ has been lost. Use SPS_fulltext_catalog to rebuild and repopulate this full-text catalog.
This issue may occur if a problem with the full-text catalog in the SiteName_SITE database prevents indexes from being generated correctly.
To resolve this issue, rebuild the full-text catalog. To do this, follow these steps:
