Question

I have incorrectly set the memory setting in SQL Server and now the service will not start. What is the option to start SQL Server at the Command prompt of the server using the default memory settings?

Answer

Type in the following line at the Command prompt of the NT SQL Server:

sqlsrvr -c -dc:\sql60\data\master.dat -f

(where "-d" is the pathname to the master database)

You could also add these parameters using the Services window within the Control Panel, then start the MS SQL Server service.
