256986 Description of the Microsoft Windows Registry
When you open a Microsoft Office XP document in a SharePoint Team Services from Microsoft document library in Microsoft Internet Explorer, the document opens as read-only and you cannot save the changes that you make to the document.
To open documents in Internet Explorer as read/write so that you can save changes to the document, add the
subkey to the registry. To do this, follow these steps.
Warning If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
Quit any Office XP programs that are running.
Click Start, and then click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
Locate and then click to select the following registry subkey:
Microsoft SharePoint Team Services, Microsoft Office XP Developer Edition, Microsoft Office XP Standard Edition, Microsoft Office XP Small Business Edition, Microsoft Access 2002 Standard Edition, Microsoft Excel 2002 Standard Edition, Microsoft FrontPage 2002 Standard Edition, Microsoft Outlook 2002 Standard Edition, Microsoft PowerPoint 2002 Standard Edition, Microsoft Word 2002
