When you log on to a Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2-based computer and then start Microsoft Money 2003 or Microsoft Money 2004, you may receive the following error message:
The new file 'C:\Documents and Settings\Guest\My Documents\My Money2.mny' cannot be created. Please check for one of the following problems:
The filename cannot contain any of the following characters: \ / : * ? " < > |.
The file cannot be created on a disk that is write-protected or does not have enough disk space.
You cannot replace a file that is currently open.
This issue occurs if the following conditions are true:
You have installed Windows XP Service Pack 2.
You use Fast User Switching to switch from the Administrator account to the Guest account.
You logged on to the computer by using an account that is a member of the Guests group and you try to start Money for the first time.
To work around this issue, log on by using an account that is a member of either the Administrators group or the Power Users group. A limited user account or a Guest account does not have sufficient permission to use Money.
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
