I am migrating a large data set to Dynamics from ctree/btrieve to Dynamics on Microsoft SQL. During the migration, several of my files failed to migrate and the only error I receive is a write error. What is a 'write error'?
During a migration to MSSQL, if the MSSQL database is not created large enough to accommodate the existing data, and it is has been selected to dynamically grow your database, the migration application may fail on a file with a 'write error' if the database is not growing fast enough. The MSSQL database should be set to a specified size of 1.5 to 2 times the Ctree/Btrieve database during the migration. To change how the database is grown, open Enterprise Manager and select your database. Right click, choose Properties - Data file. Under the Space Allocated column, specify the file size of 1.5 to 2 times the size of the database you are migrating from. Then remigrate the tables that did not migrate. After the migration you can select to dynamically grow your database again.
