When you try to visit a page of a Web site by using Microsoft Internet Explorer and Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2), you may be redirected to a different page, or the page may not open. Additionally, you may receive a message that is similar to the following:
Did you notice the Information Bar? The Information Bar alerts you when Internet Explorer blocks a pop-up window or file download that might not be safe. If a Web page does not display properly, look for the Information Bar (near the top of your browser).
This behavior may occur when Internet Explorer blocks a pop-up window. Some Web sites redirect Internet Explorer to a different page if a pop-up window is blocked.
You can resolve this issue on a site-by-site basis. To resolve this issue for this Web site, follow these steps:
On the Tools menu, point to Pop-up Blocker, and then click Always Allow Pop-ups from This Site.
When prompted to allow pop-ups from this Web site, click Yes.
To temporarily work around this issue, hold down the CTRL key when you visit a Web site that displays a pop-up window.
If you later decide that you no longer want to allow pop-up windows from a particular Web site, follow these steps on that Web site:
On the Tools menu, point to Pop-up Blocker, and then click Block Pop-ups from This Site.
When prompted to block pop-ups from this Web site, click Yes.
