After you connect a Gravis GamePad Pro device to the game port on your computer, and after you install the drivers for that device, you experience both the following symptoms:
The GamePad device does not work.
If you view the Status column of the Game Controllers dialog box, the device has a status of "not connected."
Note To view the game controller device status, click Start, click Run, type joy.cpl, and then click OK.
This problem occurs if you install the GamePad device by using the Gravis GamePad Pro (GamePort) device drivers that are included with Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 1 (SP1) or with Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2).
To resolve this problem, install the device by using the "4-button gamepad" device drivers that are included in Windows. To do this, follow these steps:
Click Start, click Run, type joy.cpl, and then click OK.
Remove the GamePad device that does not work correctly. To do this, click the device, and then click Remove.
Click Add, click 4-button gamepad, and then click OK.
Follow any remaining steps to complete the configuration of your GamePad device.
