When you try to modify an embedded e-mail message that was forwarded as an attachment by a server-side rule in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server or Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, you receive the following warning message when you try to save the changes:If you use a program that tries to modify attachments to e-mail messages, such as a mail archival program, the program cannot modify an embedded e-mail message that was forwarded as an attachment by a server-side rule. When the attempt to modify the embedded e-mail message fails, a MAPI_E_ACCESS_DENIED error is returned. This problem occurs even though the MAPI_MODIFY parameter is set when the program uses the IMAPIProp::OpenProperty method to access the PR_ATTACH_DATA_OBJ property.
This problem occurs because when an e-mail message is forwarded as an attachment by a server-side rule, the embedded e-mail message is considered read-only. The embedded e-mail message is considered read-only because the MSGFLAG_SUBMIT property is set on the attachment.
