When you are using a combo box on a form and the data source is a linked(attached) table, the scroll box does not always move down the scroll barwhen you click the scroll arrow. Once you reach the bottom of the list, however, the scroll box works properly; it jumps to the bottom of thescroll bar, and then moves along as you scroll up and down the list.

When you click the scroll arrow to view the list, the combo box controldoes not always know how many records are in its control source table orquery.

When you click the scroll arrow, Microsoft Access begins to read the datain the control source table or query. In order for the scroll box to movedown the scroll bar, the combo box must know how many items are in thelist so that it can calculate the correct physical location of the scrollbox. For example, if you have 100 records in your table and you areviewing the 50th record in the list, the scroll box should appear halfwaydown the scroll bar.

Once you have scrolled down to the bottom of the list, the combo box knowsthe number of items included in the list. The scroll box now adjustsitself automatically, relative to any item in the list that you select.
