You may receive the "Failed to get connection string from ODBC" error message in Content Management Server 2002 Service Pack 1a

When you click Choose Database Connection in Database Configuration Application (DCA), you may receive an error message that is similar to the following error message. This problem occurs in Microsoft Content Management Server 2002 Service Pack 1a after you install Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2).

Failed to get connection string from ODBC. 
Extended error: [What='Error in getting the ODBC connection'][LCID='1033'] 
[DebugIn fo=''][RecommendedAction='']
