FIX: You receive a "The root element is missing" error message when you try to process a message by using a Message Queuing transport adapter send port in BizTalk Server 2004

This article has been archived. It is offered "as is" and will no longer be updated.
In Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004, when you try to process a message by using a Microsoft Message Queuing transport adapter send port, the BizTalk Messaging engine may not successfully process the message. Additionally, you receive an Error event that is similar to the following in the Application log:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: BizTalk Server 2004
Event Category: BizTalk Server 2004
Event ID: 5782
The Messaging Engine failed while executing the outbound map for the message going to the destination URL "DIRECT=TCP:IPAddress\Private$\QueueName>" with the Message Type "http://xx.xxxx.xx#xx_xxx_xx". Details: "The root element is missing."

Note The Message Queuing transport adapter is also known as the MSMQT adapter.
