Symptoms
When you run a Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) macro that finds and replaces text, the macro takes longer than expected to finish in Microsoft Office Word 2010, in Microsoft Office Word 2007, or in Microsoft Office Word 2003. The macro takes longer than expected to finish in Word 2010, Word 2007 and Word 2003 when compared with the time that is required for the macro to finish in earlier versions of Microsoft Word.
Cause
This issue may occur if the document contains information in a header or a footer.
More information
Word 2010, Word 2007 and Word 2003 make many more calls to the find-and-replace functions than earlier versions of Word. Therefore, it may take longer to programmatically finish a find-and-replace operation in Word 2003, Word 2007 and Word 2010 depending on the contents of the document.
