You experience a delay when you transfer data over a USB port and CPU usage increases to 100 percent on a computer that is running Windows XP with Service Pack 2

You experience a delay when you transfer data over a USB port on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (SP2). For example, you experience a delay of five seconds before the data transfer is completed. When this problem occurs, CPU usage increases to 100 percent.
This problem occurs when a worker thread causes a delay during the data transfer.

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing.
