When you click to select an appointment on the Calendar screen of Siebel Systems Siebel 7.5.3, you cannot use a drag operation to change the duration of the appointment.
This issue occurs if you have installed the Microsoft Security Bulletin MS04-040 Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer.
A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.

You must have Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack (SP) 2 installed to apply this hotfix.
You must restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.
You must create registry keys to enable this hotfix.
The English version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.

Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk. To enable this hotfix, follow these steps:
Quit Internet Explorer.
Click Start, click Run, type Regedit, and then click OK.
Locate and then click to select the following registry key:
On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click Key.
Type FeatureControl, and then press ENTER.
Right-click FeatureControl, point to New, and then click Key.
Type FEATURE_DISABLE_MOUSE_RELEASE_WHEN_DRAG_NOT_ALLOWED_896616, and then press ENTER.
Right-click FEATURE_DISABLE_MOUSE_RELEASE_WHEN_DRAG_NOT_ALLOWED_896616, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
Type iexplore.exe, and then press ENTER.
Right-click iexplore.exe, and then click Modify.
In the Value data box, type 00000001, and then click OK.
On the File menu, click Exit to quit Registry Editor.
To work around this issue, use one of the following methods.
Delete the existing appointment, and then create a new appointment that has the duration that you want.
Modify the start time and the end time of the existing appointment without using a drag operation.
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1, or when used with Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack (SP) 2.
