A user who is logged on to an Outlook 2002 client computer cannot change the domain password in a Windows 2000 domain

Consider the following scenario:
  • Update Rollup 1 for Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 is installed on a Windows 2000-based primary domain controller (PDC) emulator.
  • A user who is logged on to a Microsoft Outlook 2002 or Outlook 2000 client computer tries to change the domain password by using the Outlook 2002 or Outlook 2000 interface.
  • The client computer belongs to a workgroup.
In this scenario, the user cannot change the domain password on the Outlook 2002 client computer. This issue does not occur on Outlook 2003 client computer.

Hotfix information

Note To resolve this problem, install this hotfix on the PDC emulator of the domain where the Exchange server is a member.

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
