In a multi-tier Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2) hierarchy on the 3rd-level primary sites, you may find that some packages are not uncompressed in the share folder on the distribution point.
Additionally, an error message that resembles the following is logged in the Despool.log file:

This problem occurs when you try to copy package files to a site for the first time, and you then try to add distribution points to a new child site.
Additionally, when you add files to an existing package, and then you update the distribution point on the central site, you may see the following error in the Distmgr.log file on the child primary site:
The compressed package file D:\SMSPKG\BCN00049.DL$ is either missing or corrupted, CTool return code = 11 SMS_DISTRIBUTION_MANAGER 1/1/2007 12:00:00 AM 5524 (0x1594)Cannot decompress package BCN00049 SMS_DISTRIBUTION_MANAGER 1/1/2007 12:00:00 AM 5524 (0x1594)
