You use the original release version of Microsoft Windows Server 2003 to scan for available updates on the Windows Update Web site or on the Microsoft Update Web site. You are not offered any updates. Only Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1) is offered.
The Windows Update Web site and the Microsoft Update Web site offer exclusive updates, such as service packs that may contain other updates.
To resolve this problem, use one of the following methods.
Method 1: Install Windows Server 2003 SP1 by using the Windows Update Web site, the Microsoft Update Web site, or Windows Server Update Services (WSUS)Install Windows Server 2003 SP1 by using the Windows Update Web site, the Microsoft Update Web site, or Windows Server Update Services (WSUS).

Method 2: Hide Windows Server 2003 SP1 and see a list of other security updatesYou may choose not to install the service pack for very specific reasons. If you are a corporate user who chooses not to install Windows Server 2003 SP1, follow these steps to hide the update and to see a list of other security updates that apply to the computer.
Important You must follow these steps if you do not intend to install the service pack.
