Consider the following scenario. You have a Microsoft Windows XP-based portable computer that uses two hardware profiles. One hardware profile is configured to load certain drivers when the portable computer is docked. Another hardware profile is configured to load different drivers when the portable computer is undocked. If you select a hardware profile that does not match the docked or undocked state of the computer, the unselected hardware profile is deleted.

For example, if you select the docked profile when the computer is undocked, the undocked profile is deleted. If you select the undocked profile when the computer is docked, the docked profile is deleted.
