Time-out error when approving multiple updates on Microsoft WSUS Server

This article has been archived. It is offered "as is" and will no longer be updated.
Time-out errors and slow performance occurs when approvals are created or changed on the Windows Server Upate Services (WSUS) server on multiple updates for multiple target groups.
This problem occurs when the delete trigger in WSUS 2.0 does not operate correctly. This occurs most often when many target groups and deployments exist.

Also, the SQL querry that evaluates whether the prerequisites and bundled children deployments still have to be undeployed.

The query determines if the current revision has prerequisites that an other update may reference for an explicit action to that same target group.

In this case, not all of the tbDeployment columns used in that query are indexed.
