When you view the Task Scheduler service in the Services snap-in in Microsoft Windows XP, you notice that the service is not started even though the Startup type option is set to Automatic. Additionally, you receive the following error message when you try to start the Task Scheduler service:
Could not start the Task Scheduler service on Local Computer.
Error 1717: The interface is unknown.
This issue occurs when the Startup type option is set to Disabled in the Event Log service in the Services snap-in.
To resolve this issue, start the Event Log service. Then, start the Task Scheduler service. To do this, follow these steps:
