This article describes how Microsoft Office Groove Server Manager or the Groove Management Server schedules Groove account data backup.
In Groove Manager or in Groove Enterprise Management Server, you can set the time interval for backups. By default, this interval is four days in Groove Manager. By default, this interval is disabled in Enterprise Management Server. In a Groove Hosted Services domain or in a Microsoft Office Groove Enterprise Services domain, the interval is always 30 days. If users do something that will make their previous backups invalid, you may want to have them create manual backups to help protect their accounts until the next scheduled backup. For example, users who have upgraded from Groove Virtual Office 3.1 to Microsoft Office Groove 2007 should then save their accounts.
A configured backup occurs only when the Groove account is idle. An account becomes idle after the account has been inactive for fifteen minutes in the Groove client. If a user's account never goes into an idle state in the Groove client, that user's account is not backed up.
