Error message when a user who has the Add Items permission to a document library saves a new document or saves an existing document to a document library: "You do not have the correct permissions, please contact the server administrator"

Consider the following scenario. In Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0, you create a custom site group. You configure the site group so that its members can only add items to a document library. Users who are members of the site group have the following permissions to a document library:
A user in the site group can upload a document to the document library. However, when the user creates a new document, and then saves the document by using the Save or Save As command, the user receives the following error message:
You do not have the correct permissions, please contact the server administrator.
The user receives this error message even though the document is saved to the document library. Additionally, the user experiences this symptom if the user opens an existing document in the document library, and then saves the document by using a different name.
This issue occurs because the Web Extender Client (WEC) protocol tries to temporarily check out the document and maintain a file lock on the document. This operation is not completed successfully because the custom site group has insufficient permissions to check out a document. In this scenario, Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 displays the error message that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section even though the document is actually saved to the document library.
To work around this issue, use one of the following methods:
Save the document locally. Then, use either the Upload Document feature in Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 or Web folders to upload the document to the document library.
Use two document libraries together with event handlers. Set up the two document libraries so that when a user saves a document to one document library, the document is copied to the other document library as a new document.
Modify the default permissions that are assigned to the site group that has the Contribute permissions level. Remove permissions from the site group until it has the permissions that you want. The site group that has the Contribute permissions level can check out documents. Therefore, users will not receive the error message that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section.
