A blank Live Communications Server 2005 MMC snap-in appears when you start the Live Communications Server 2005 administration tool

Symptoms
After you install and activate Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2005, you experience the following symptoms:
  • When you start the Live Communications Server 2005 administration tool, a blank Live Communications Server 2005 Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in appears.
  • If you install the administration tools on a remote computer, the Live Communications Server 2005 administration tool appears as expected.
When this problem occurs, you do not experience any problems with the functionality of Live Communications Server 2005.
Cause
This problem may occur if you install Live Communications Server 2005 on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2.
Workaround
To work around this problem, create a new MMC snap-in from which to manage Live Communications Server 2005. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type mmc, and then click OK.
  2. In the Console1 MMC snap-in, click Add/Remove Snap-in on the File menu.
  3. In the Add/remove Snap-in dialog box, click Add, click Live Communications Server 2005 in the Add Standalone Snap-in dialog box, click Add, click Close, and then click OK.
  4. On the File menu, click Save As.
  5. In the Save As dialog box, locate the %WINDIR%\System32 folder.
  6. In the File name box, type wrtcsnap2.msc, and then click Save.
  7. Click Yes when you are prompted to overwrite the existing wrtcsnap2.msc file.
When you next click Live Communications Server 2005 on the Start menu, the new custom MMC snap-in opens.
Status
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
