Note Windows Anytime Upgrade is available on the following editions of Windows Vista:
Windows Vista Home Basic

Windows Vista Business
Windows Vista Home Basic N
Windows Vista Business N
The Windows Anytime Upgrade feature lets you perform one of the following upgrade operations:
If you have Windows Vista Home Basic, you can upgrade to Windows Vista Home Premium or to Windows Vista Ultimate.
If you have Windows Vista Business, you can upgrade to Windows Vista Ultimate.
Note You can use the Windows Anytime Upgrade feature only to upgrade a computer that is already running Windows Vista. Additionally, you must upgrade a 32-bit version of Windows Vista to another 32-bit version of Windows Vista or a 64-bit version of Windows Vista to another 64-bit version of Windows Vista.
Note To determine the version of Windows Vista that you are running, follow these steps:
Click Start, type welcome center in the Start Search box, and then click Welcome Center in the Programs list.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click Continue.
In Welcome Center, examine the upper area for information about the version of Windows Vista that is installed.
When you upgrade to another version of Windows Vista, you may receive an error message. Use the following Microsoft Knowledge Base articles to help you troubleshoot the issue that you experience.
930373 Error message when you try to activate a copy of Windows Vista by using the upgrade product key: "The following failure occurred while trying to use the product key: Code: 0xC004F061"
930374 Error message when you try to perform a Windows Anytime Upgrade on a Windows Vista-based computer: "The product key you entered cannot be used when installation is started from this edition of Windows"
930375 Error message when you try to use a Windows Anytime Upgrade product key during a clean installation of Windows Vista: "To use the product key you entered, start the installation from your existing version of Windows"
930376 Error message when you try to install the license package on a Windows Vista-based computer: "Cannot Install License Package"
