When you try to install the Microsoft SoftGrid Virtual Application Server, the installation fails. Additionally, you receive following error message:
The installation program encountered an error when attempting to execute a database statement. The specified object_name ('SQLServer:Databases') does not exist.
This problem may occur if the "SQLServer:Databases" performance counter is not installed. The SoftGrid Virtual Application Server installation requires that the "SQLServer:Databases" performance counter is installed on the computer that is running Microsoft SQL Server.
To verify that the "SQLServer:Databases" performance counter is installed, follow these steps:
Open Microsoft SQL Server, and then click Performance in Administrative Tools.
Click System Monitor.
On the toolbar, click Add.
Click the list for Performance object.
Verify that SQLServer:Databases is listed.
If the performance counter is not listed, follow these steps to install the SQL Server performance counters:
In SQL Server, open a command prompt.
Move to the C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Binn directory.
