Consider the following scenario. You create a document (.doc file) in Microsoft Word 2000. Additionally, you track the formatting changes that you make to the document. You open the Word 2000 document in Microsoft Office Word 2007. Then, you save the document in the Word Document (*.docx) format. In this scenario, when you use Word 2007 to reopen the document, Word 2007 does not display the history of the tracked formatting changes.

  • This problem does not occur when the formatting changes in the document are tracked in Microsoft Office Word 2003 or in Microsoft Word 2002.
  • To see the tracked changes in the document in Word 2007, click Reviewing Pane in the Tracking group on the Review tab.
To resolve this problem, save the Word 2000 document in the Word 97-2003 Document (*.doc) format in Word 2007.
Microsoft is researching this problem and will post more information in this article when the information becomes available.
