Systems Management Server 2003 reports that contain an ampersand character do not return expected results

Consider the following scenario:
  • You install Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2).
  • You use the SMS Administrator Console to run a report, such as a software inventory report.
  • The report contains an ampersand character (&) in the query data.
In this scenario, the ampersand character is converted to &amp. Also, the report contains no information.
This problem occurs because the HTML encoding process coverts the ampersand characters in the query data to &amp. Then, the HTML encoding process submits the information to Microsoft SQL Server.  In this scenario, &amp breaks the query.
